Project Objectives
There are three main objectives for this project:
- Understand and assess how specific land use policies relate to critical measures of
travel choice: vehicles miles traveled, cold start production, modal choice, types of
vehicle emissions: NOx, VOC, CO, and level of physical activity.
- Interpret the data and models used in the project to assist local government officials
in their understanding of how land use and development practices impact transportation,
air quality, local economies, and quality of life.
- Identify potential incentives for local governments to adopt land use strategies that
result in reduced vehicle emissions and congestion through the programming of
transportation investments and potential growth management practices.
